Every last breath – Jennifer L. Armentrout

Every last breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Synopsis – Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Review – This is the last book in the Dark elements trilogy. I have to say that some parts of it were amazing, such as the lack of a love triangle! ( YAY!)  Layla finally makes up her mind, in the first 70 pages of the book. This however just increases the passionate “love scenes” which do get a little annoying.

The actual plot is brilliant, as they go hunt for the Lilin. At the end of Stone cold touch we find out who the Lilin is, and how it is connected to Layla in many ways other than just blood. The connection is how they are always able to find each other. The walk to Hell was fascinating as once more we see some of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s sarcasm and epic humour through Layla’s meeting with Grim… as in the Grim Reaper! Oh and Bambi… the Warden eating snake can actually turn into a woman down under! ( That is Hell… not Australia).

Abbot… oh you are still kind of an ass… but you shall be forgiven!

Danika and Nickolai! yes I am so happy about this small fact, because they are important characters, and they good wardens. Nickolai lost his wife and child during child birth… and Danika loved Zayne. Them getting close in the end was awesome!

Same goes for Stacey and Zayne! They are friends, and they are able to talk and support each other through tough times. Stacey being human and thrust into the world of Wardens and demons. (Thumper did destroy her house).

Overall, it seemed to end a little to perfectly, but perhaps that is me being just overly critical. This series is an absolute must read! Please ignore the terrible covers and titles, because at first I was sceptical of reading these books but now I love them!

My rating – 4,5/5 Stars
