Anna and the French Kiss – Stephanie Perkins

Goodreads Synopsis –

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris–until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all…including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

My Review –

Many people start this book believing that it will be just another insta – love book with cheesy teen characters that have a perfect life and that everything is always easy and unrealistic for them. It is a cheesy book, but the romance is real. I mean this in the sense that the characters Anna and St Clair meet and a friendship blossoms.

St Clair is the brooding type that has a creative mind and comes across as a little rude at times but overall is a very well developed character as you can really sink into his mind and feel his emotions and understand his thoughts. Anna annoyed me at times because she was handed everything on a silver platter yet she was never fully happy, even when everyone else around her was.

This is a good easy read that one might read whilst lounging on the beach or curled up by the christmas fire. It is not an excellent book because it is fairly generic and sometimes the characters acted so stupid, but the truth of the matter is that teenagers often act stupid, so it is to be expected.
